“During Term 2, students from the senior leadership team at our college had the opportunity to visit the Department of Education to gain an insight into leadership in higher levels of the education system. Students had the opportunity to speak to and ask questions of several members of staff at the Department of Education with an array of different roles to further understand how different types of leadership are carried out. We then participated a workshop segment of the excursion which allowed us to apply the knowledge and strategies we had just learnt to situations within our school and community, focusing on ways that can impact change in the future. Overall, it was a very rewarding experience for all students involved and provided a great opportunity to build bonds between the current College Captains and future senior leadership team. Thank you to Ms Sandford and Ms Smith for organising and providing us with such an insightful and enriching experience.”
Jessica Lord
School Captain
“The excursion was very insightful as we heard from many people in different senior positions within the department and how different everyone’s journey was to reach where they are today. It made me realise that the path I choose may lead me into something that I would never imagine doing. I was also able to come out of the excursion with better leadership skills through the workshops that we participated in about planning. Overall it was a really good experience and an eye-opener to different leadership journeys and how leaders operate in a professional environment.”

“It was a very interesting experience and was most valuable for those wishing to participate in senior leadership roles in the future. It was great to connect with the current College Captains and discuss potential ideas for the future too.”
